Good Riddance

Good Riddance is often used as an exclamation of satisfaction at getting rid of someone or something.

The above statement begs us a question, why would you want to get rid of a person or something in your life?

But my thoughts are on the contrary, why would you not get rid of someone or something?

Surprised? Read on to find out…

In your life you’d experience various things, things that maybe good or bad and more often than not, the bad experiences leave a bigger impression on our tender minds as compared to the good ones, well that’s human tendency and you cannot do anything about it, or can you? Yes you can.

The bad experiences of people vary from person to person and so do the coping mechanisms adopted by each person after all every person is different and so are their mechanisms- some take to excessive consumption of alcohol, some take to drugs, some dive deep into the ocean of self-doubt without ever thinking about how incredible they are the way they are. The experiences build you into the person you are layer by layer.

But nothing can take away the fact that way you are is just mesmerizing and while I agree that the experiences you’ve been through are different and the other person may never be able to comprehend the extent to which it affected you, but consider this: never coming out your coping mechanisms will not rewind the situation and lead to a different outcome this time. What’s done is done and there is nothing we can do to change it. Agreed, suffering is a very personal experience and it demands to be felt, but no one can help you with that process or do it on your behalf. You and only you can chose to come out of it.

So I say, feel every moment of the suffering, because till the time you don’t cry your heart out, how will you feel your heart filled to the brim with happiness? Experiencing darkness will only make you appreciate the sunshine more and while you’re experiencing darkness, adopt any coping mechanisms you like and also focus on things that make your heart truly happy. As the great Albus Dumbledore puts it, “Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light!”

Believe there is light at the end of the tunnel and once you’re through with the suffering turn on that light, dust yourself up and give up on those habits adopted as coping mechanisms and start on a fresh journey forward because the world is waiting with a baited breath for the miracle that is you! Do some deeds just to give back to the world because as I have learnt, charity is also a selfish act, it makes your heart truly happy and expands your vision and sometimes even gives you a reason to live.

But amidst all this newness, always remember, from a distance, the moments those were for what they were and in the future if someone tries to drag you down back into that dark abyss, remember this small piece of advice by Tyrion Lannister, “Never forget what you are, the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armour and it can never be used to hurt you”

Where does Good Riddance come into the picture in all of this?
Well, bid good riddance to that experience/incident, to the coping mechanisms that took you down, to the incident that was and start leading a life full of belief, happiness and acceptance. Indulge in things that give you happiness, things that do a lot of good for the world at large.

Be happy and grateful for the time it lasted, cherish it, yes, remember it, yes, but do not get stuck at it, life is a stage and you’re the superstar of your movie. Embrace life and it will hug you back.

The Virtue of Patience!

Be Patient! Patience is one of the rarest virtues to be found in human species these days. I just ask people as to what is wrong in being patient? Well the only answer I get is it takes too long, the wait is till eternity, who will wait that long etc. etc. So where did our patience go? We still have to wait, but why can’t we do it patiently anymore? What brings me here to write about this virtue today is a fact that I got to know very recently- which is that 94% of the entire Universe is made up of dark matter and scientists say that this dark matter, such as black holes and other such things, they don’t know what it is and why is it there but what is a fact is that the Universe, the world- us would not be able to survive and thrive if not for this 94% dark matter.
